Tumescent Liposuction
Tumescent liposuction refers to a technique that uses large volumes of very dilute local anesthesia that is injected into the fat causing the targeted areas to become tumescent, or swollen and firm. Local anesthesia is widely regarded as the safest form of anesthesia.
Tumescent liposuction has an unprecedented safety profile, and effectively removes both deep and superficial layers of fat with little discomfort. While under twilight sedation, micro cannulas are used to suction out unwanted fat and to smooth out problem areas minimalizing scaring and bruising.
Abdomen, flanks, waist, back, hips, inner and outer thighs, chin, jowls, and upper arms are some of the more common areas treated. If you have several areas that need sculpting, we offer discounts on the additional areas if the procedure is performed the same day. Following the procedure, compression garments are worn to help skin contract and heal. Most patients can return to a desk type job within a few days. Physical exercise may be resumed 3-7 days after the procedure.

Brachiaplasty
Loss of skin elasticity in the upper arm is a problem that can be seen with increasing age or after significant weight loss. The primary method to tighten the skin of the upper arm and remove excess fat is called a brachiaplasty. The most common way this is done is by an incision that extends from the armpit to the elbow hidden on the inner arm or on the back of the arm. This technique allows for maximum skin and fat removal. Variants of this technique may use a less extensive incision where less skin and fat removal is necessary. Dr. Carter will consult and evaluate you and recommend the appropriate incision type for you.
